Courage and consistency are perfect. We’ve been talking about compassion and respect on societal level - and on a personal level, I’m ready to add yours in. ❤️
Asha, I appreciate the note that opens this and I think the words that follow it are a great complement to the note. Courage, consistency, small steps are all helpful in facing the fires both literal and metaphorical that we can't escape from. I'm so sorry about your sister and other family who are dealing directly with this disaster. Take care 💜
You have a good point about the definition of self improvement. Also, I’m feeling the adult kid thing deeply. How much to let go, how much to parent. This is such a hard transition.
It's SO HARD. Beyond the massive range of "normal" among our adult kids (including "normal" for those of us and/or our kids who are neurodivergent) we're doing this during totally abnormal times. What was bound to be a bumpy transition now feels like it's happening in the pitch dark and underwater. It's been so long now, I sometimes forget that.
Small moments many times. I really love that. Adding that to courage and consistence. Wait, also strategies not resolutions. ;) thanks for getting me thinking (and motivated) as we head into the new year. And my youngest is also heading back for his final semester in college, which brings a lot of other things to contemplate in this new year. xo
Thanks for this thoughtful comment, Amy. I'm glad this was useful. I wasn't sure if these ramblings would make sense (let alone be helpful) to anyone besides me! Writing things out helps me understand them better myself. Re: "small moments, many times," something inside relaxed when my meditation teacher said that. She's incredibly down-to-earth, and the practice is too.
Hope the new year is safe and healthy for you and all your family. And much gratitude for sharing the contact for our cousin who has lost so much in the tragic and ongoing aftermath of the fires. I was easily able to contribute. It is often a challenge to stay or be in contact with distant family, but I know our caring makes a great difference. Much love and more gratitude.

I’m glad this spoke to you. I’m finding courage in small places, and consistency offers some counterweight to these surreal times.

Thank you so much, Rita.

!!! I love that you're here! Thank you for letting me know. Love and gratitude back to you, always.
Always family…
Cadence is my word for the year. A cadence of courage and consistency works well for me also. Here’s to getting that rhythm! ♥️
Small moments, many times.
I love this so much. Thank you.
