You had me at hello. "Doing the good that's in front of you" is such a great reminder to not get stuck in the overwhelm. The taking action is the work! Thank you.
Thank YOU for talking to me about this. It's easy to forget for days and weeks at a time which is why I'm experimenting with answering these questions in my journal every morning (via Karen Walrond via Mallika Chopra): 1) How can I feel healthy today? 2) How can I feel connected today? 3) How can I feel purposeful today? https://www.chookooloonks.com/blog/on-practices-and-setting-intentions
I keep a quote by my desk (from a Unitarian Universalist sermon) that says, "Shine your light where you are." I do good every day for a very small number of people, but I hope those people help spread it further. Any other mindset and I'll be hiding under my desk.
Thank you for that quote, Jill, which says it all. But even *I* get irritated with this basic truth. It can feel Pollyanna at times, or like a way to soothe my conscience (for what? for that survivor's guilt feeling which is a total mindf*ck). But like you said -- what good does hiding under our desks do? NONE. PS. I'm one of the people you've done good for, for years now.
Thank YOU for stopping by and for helping to pull me out of the dark. I like to think we're all part of a bucket brigade we can trust keeps working when one of us has to tap out for a bit.

Thank you for the shout out. I wish I was better at doing better when I'm feeling dark but I'm working on it!
