Participating in events like the No Kings protests is a way we show up for each other. I was at the Eastside protest too, and it was so amazingly heartening, especially after the terrible news of that morning. Since it took place on both sides of busy streets with lots of stop lights, protesters had many chances to converse with passing motorists who honked their horns and were stopped for red lights or to let the MAX train go by. We thanked the drivers for their support and they thanked us for being there. It felt like we were all at our best that day.
How cool that we were in the same place at the same time. The particular geography of presence on two busy one-way streets made it particularly special somehow.
Yes, I hope they continue to use this location. It works better for folks with mobility issues and is generally less crazy than the bigger demonstrations and marches elsewhere.
Our "us" was several thousand of us in Gig Harbor, WA. I cried when I saw all of the love and enthusiasm; young people and LOTS of us 'silvers'; some of the signs were a bit less child-friendly than maybe some parents would want but the point was clear - we want the United States of America to be a democracy not run by a dictator. I pray we can keep this enthusiasm going! Thank you, Asha! vlc

I wasn't able to participate (my eldest had his last music recital right in the middle of the day), I did read this and thought, "yes" immediately.

Tears in my eyes, too. Thank you for sharing this lovely scene in Gig Harbor.
